The Weekend

This last weekend was crazy busy for me. On Friday, after school, I had a hair cut. I didn't do anything major to my hair, it just needed trimming. Then, on Saturday, I slept in until 10:30 a.m. And that felt AMAZING! After I woke up and got ready, I hung around my house until the Winter Performance at Sunnyside. The concert went well, and I liked seeing all my friends. On Sunday my dad, my little brother, and I went to get a Christmas tree while my mom was working. Then I got ready for banquet and my best friend Amanda came over so we could go to banquet together. Banquet was at the Adriana Hill Grand Ballroom in downtown Portland. It was really fun. I went with a big group of friends. After banquet, we all went to Voodoo Doughnuts and then to a bowling alley. Tragically, when we arrived, the bowling alley was 5 minutes away from closing time. So we decided to go to a friend's house instead. After hanging out there for a little while, a few of us went to another friend's house to spend the night. We ended up staying awake until 1:15 a.m. because we watched the best movie ever, Footloose. And that was my crazy busy weekend!

Thursday Thoughts

April 18, 2013 So, this week I edited and finished my cityscape/urban project. I definitely took a bigger risk with this project, especially when it came to editing. I also became surprised with some images that I wasn't too happy with in the beginning. I edited lots of images to make them more strong and bold. I loved doing this project so much. As far as critiquing goes, I didn't get much of a chance to do very much of it this week. Although, I did help Zac out a lot with helping him choose which pictures stood out more than others. I thought it was cool how bold he was in this project.

Genders And Writing

It seems like a logical, but ancient idea that our genders influence the way we write. Someone might say that women write more emotional and men write more logically and factually. While in some cases this may be true, it cannot be said for men and women writers as a whole. The truth of the matter is that it is our culture that influences the way we write. If we grow up in a culture where men are not emotional and women are, the roles will be assumed by each gender. This is not because they simply feel they are emotional or not, it is because they want to fit into society and not be deemed a strange and unique person. Gender roles and personality traits are simply just a part of culture. Honestly, men can be very emotional, and women can not be at all. It all depends on the individual.
