Why Is Animal Testing Not Illegal?!?

More and more recently, I have been becoming vastly aware of my own opinions about the world. With this comes new stances I take on things that I am passionate about. One of those things is animals. I have always been so in love with animals. As a little girl, I was always way more of a stuffed animal kid than a doll one. I carried my stuffed animals around like my best friends, and gave them names and personalities. As I have grown, my love for animals has only increased along with me. I am always eager to learn everything I can about any kind of animal, and refuse to have an aversion to animal simply because other people do. My favorite kind of animal is a dog. Dogs are the most loving, sweet, and loyal animals that exist on this planet. They can be your very best friend, reduce your stress and anxiety, and bring you lots of laughs!  I have never been able to describe the feeling of having a dog plop down in your lap and just fall asleep. The love of a happy, cared for animal is like none other.

Now you may be wondering what all that has to do with animal testing. This is why; I love animals. And thankfully, I am not alone in that love. Pretty much every single person has a favorite animal and desires some kind of animal companion in their lives. Animals are our partners in crime; our unconditional friends. We bring them into our homes, feed them, keep them safe, and shower them with affection. One might say this is very similar to how we treat fellow humans. Our children, parents, friends, etc. We always want what is best for them and would not condone human cruelty. Let me ask you this, if you heard that a dog food company was buying people against their will, and forcing them to smell, and even consume the dog food without consent, would you simply shrug it off? My guess is no. Even if you did not stand up for it right away, you would definitely agree that it should become illegal ASAP. So why don't you feel the same about our animal cousins? Just because they cannot speak in words like we do, they have no rights? No feelings? No sense of pain or depression? My question is, buying people and forcing them to be lab rats is unheard of and most definitely punishable by law. So why isn't the same thing true for animals? It breaks my heart that our society finds it less of a priority simply because they are animals, not people.

So, as I grow, the more I realize that injustices such as animal testing should be illegal. I am going to at least point out the problem, and try and raise awareness of problems needing solved.
