Architecture Assignment-Self Critique

I think my strengths in this particular project were a few things. The first one being I had a lot more confidence with this project. I knew what I was doing more or less and I felt like I could work with the camera. I aslo think I did well on finding fun things to take photos of. That really is the best part of photography. Finding something and making it even more of something than it already is. Lastly, I believe I had some unique angles and composition. I loved taking each one of these photos even if there were some challenges.

I think improvements that I need to make are I need to realize the amount of work I might have to do in the editing process, while I'm shooting. I need to think while I'm shooting. It's that simple, but very crucial. And thats something I learned on this assignment. There were a couple images where I cropped and straightened and cropped and straightened and so on, and they just didn't end up being the way I wanted them to be. That's something I can definitely work on. Another thing is simply taking pictures of people I don't know and learning that its ok to ask for a photo. That was something I struggled with. Even though I'm pretty outgoing, it was hard for me to bring myself to ask for a picture inside somewhere or of a person. So I definitely need to work on that as well.

Overall, I really loved this assignment a lot more than I thought I was going to. I'm more into taking pictures of nature and landscape, so doing the opposite of that seemed hard to me at first. But I think I really got the hang of things and I ended up enjoying myself a lot. Even with the picture of my dad and the car on the wall, I loved taking that picture because it was just a silly moment that I had with him. There are little things about the behind the scenes part of photography that just enhance the meaning of it all. Photos are memories. And that's the part that is the most enjoyable about photography, sharing the moment. I definitely think that I have a list of things to work on, however, I definitely grew in this project and learned that I can surprise myself with the things I actually can do. I also learned this year that although I'm a writer, and I love using words to create, I also love expressing my creativity through photography.
